BACKSTORY: The Husqvarna Group (Swedish pronunciation: [ˈhʉ̂ːsˌkvɑːɳa ˈɡruːp]) is a Swedish manufacturer of outdoor power products including robotic lawn mowers, chainsaws, trimmers, brushcutters, cultivators, and garden tractors. Founded as a firearms manufacturer in 1689, it is one of the oldest continuously running companies in the world. Headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, the group also produces cutting equipment and diamond tools for the construction and stone industries.[3] In 2007, it acquired Gardena GmbH, a German manufacturer of gardening tools and consumer watering products. [4]
Their motorcycle division was spun off in 1987,[4] and is now owned by KTM.
Their sewing machine division was sold off in 1997 and is now owned by SVP Worldwide.
Husqvarna Group sponsors the Swedish ice hockey club HV71, whose home arena, Husqvarna Garden, pays homage to its sponsor and the renowned Madison Square Garden arena in New York City.

BACKSTORY: A power tool is a tool that is actuated by an additional power source and mechanism other than the solely manual labor used with hand tools. The most common types of power tools use electric motors. Internal combustion engines and compressed airare also commonly used. Tools directly driven by animal power are not generally considered power tools. Power tools can produce large amounts of particulates, including ultrafine particles. Airborne particulate matter is a Group 1 carcinogen.
Power tools are used in industry, in construction, in renovation, in the garden, for housework tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and around the house for purposes of driving (fasteners), drilling, cutting, shaping, sanding, grinding, routing, polishing, painting, metalworking, woodworking, heating and more.
Using hand and power tools to cut plastic materials during construction activities can generate microplastics. Airborne microplastics is a type of particulates. Further studies are needed “on the different types of cutting tools and their associated MP production”.
Power tools are classified as either stationary or portable, where portable means hand-held. Portable power tools have obvious advantages in mobility. Stationary power tools, however, often have advantages in speed and precision. A typical table saw, for instance, not only cuts faster than a regular hand saw, but the cuts are smoother, straighter, and more square than what is normally achievable with a hand-held power saw. Some stationary power tools can produce objects that cannot be made in any other way. Lathes, for example, produce truly round objects.
Stationary power tools for metalworking are usually called machine tools. The term machine tool is not usually applied to stationary power tools for woodworking, although such usage is occasionally heard, and in some cases, such as drill presses and bench grinders, exactly the same tool is used for both woodworking and metalworking. BACKSTORY: A garden tool is any one of many tools made for gardening and landscaping, which overlap with the range of tools made for agriculture and horticulture. Garden tools can be divided into hand tools and power tools.
Today’s garden tools originated with the earliest agricultural implements used by humans. Examples include the hatchet, axe, sickle, scythe, pitchfork, spade, shovel, trowel, hoe, fork, and rake. In some places, the machete is common.
The earliest tools were made variously of wood, flint, metal, tin, and bone. The development of metalworking, first in copper and later in bronze, iron, and steel, produced today’s durable tools, including such efficient cutting tools as pruning shears(secateurs – for example anvil pruners), grass shears, and loppers.
Increasing use of modern alloys allows many tools to be made both stronger and lighter, making them more durable and easier to use.
Some modern tool designs reflect ergonomic considerations, being designed to induce less stress on the human body in use. The most efficient tools keep the body in a neutral position to help reduce the stress on joints and muscles, which also require less energy to use.
The first power tool to become popular with gardeners was the lawn mower.[citation needed] It was followed by various cultivators(such as the rototiller), string trimmers, hedge trimmers, lawn aerators, lawn sweepers, trenchers, leaf blowers, chainsaws, mini-tractors, and others.
Power tools have resulted in the transition from manual labor to large-scale mechanised agriculture.
The exhaust fumes from primarily 2-stroke gas-powered equipment is a source of air pollution.[1] US emission standardsspecifically limit emissions from these small engines, which are being forced to become more efficient and less polluting. As Q1 2024 petrol powered tools are banned in California.[2] (SOURCE: Wikipedia)
BACKSTORY: Groundskeeping is the activity of tending an area of land for aesthetic or functional purposes, typically in an institutional setting. It includes mowing grass, trimming hedges, pulling weeds, planting flowers, etc. The U.S. Department of Labor estimated that more than 900,000 workers are employed in the landscape maintenance and groundskeeping services industry in the United States in 2006. Of these over 300,000 workers were greenskeepers for golf courses, schools, resorts, and public parks.[1] (SOURCE: Wikipedia)
