BACKSTORY: Retail design is a creative and commercial discipline that combines several different areas of expertise together in the design and construction of retail space. Retail design is primarily a specialized practice of architecture and interior design, however it also incorporates elements of interior decoration, industrial design, graphic design, ergonomics, and advertising.[1][2][3]

Retail design is a very specialized discipline due to the heavy demands placed on retail space. Because the primary purpose of retail space is to stock and sell product to consumers, the spaces must be designed in a way that promotes an enjoyable and hassle-free shopping experience for the consumer. … The space must be specially-tailored to the kind of product being sold in that space; for example, a bookstore requires many large shelving units to accommodate small products that can be arranged categorically while a clothing store requires more open space to fully display product.[5][6][7]

Retail spaces, especially when they form part of a retail chain, must also be designed to draw people into the space to shop. The storefront must act as a billboard for the store, often employing large display windows that allow shoppers to see into the space and the product inside. In the case of a retail chain, the individual spaces must be unified in their design.[5][8] (SOURCE: Wikipedia)

HOW TO <SEARCH>
FOR FIXTURES DIRECTLY:

How To Search Store Fixtures - Direct Search

How To Search Store Fixtures – Direct Search

DIRECT SEARCH: Employ the FixturesCloseUp website’s built-in <Search> function in the Top Level Menu or Right-Hand Rail. Search for a specific term or, better yet, multi-word term. Enclosing your search phrase in quotes can produce a different result than a non-quoted search, so try both. Searching “Index: Term” where “Term” is the keyword of interest will result in a list of Index Pages with the “Term” in the Title or Body. Searching “Index: Term” WITH QUOTES will narrow the resulting list of Index Pages to those with the “Term” in the Title only (not in the Post Body). Do remember to include the colon (:) immediately after the word “Index.” Try searching both ways to see the result then use <Search> creatively and alternately to zero in on the results you need.

TOPIC INDEX MENU: Accessed from the top-level menu. The Topic Index Menu provides a central hub for researching the almost 1,000 named fixture threads and provides alphabetical access by thread Title. Individual Index Pages host a gallery of post images for that thread, all individual Post Titles that relate, as well as a link to that page’s Pinterest Board at the bottom.

TOPIC INDEX EASE-OF-USE TIP: Use your Browser <Find> … not this website’s <Search> function … to quickly leap to topics of interest far down this almost 1,000 Topic Index Page. For example… <Find> Yves will quickly take you to Yves St. Laurent. <Find> Magnetic will quickly take you to Magnetic fixtures.

PINTEREST BOARD MENU: Accessed from the top-level menu. The Pinterest Board Menu provides a central hub for researching a named thread visually on Pinterest by linking out to that Pinterest Board for a complete visual search of images.  Only one photo from any individual post is represented on the Pinterest Board. So if you see an interesting photo pin, you should follow it to the Post to see if additional worthy images exist. Know that the FixturesCloseUp Pinterest Board topics are only a subset of the Topic Index titles, in that Pinterest cannot support the full Topic Index list of almost 1,000.

HOW TO
USE POST TAGS

How To Search Store Fixtures - How To Use Post Tags

How To Search Store Fixtures – How To Use Post Tags

TAGS: Posts are all classified by multiple Tags. Related posts with the same Tag can be called up from the Tag Menu running across the bottom of each individual post. Over-arching Tags include the major retail channels of Apparel, Auto, Drug, Entertainment Retail, General Merchandise, Grocery, Hardware, Hospitality Retail, Housewares, Jewelry, Office Supply, POP (Point-of-Purchase), Shoe, Specialty, Sports and Toy, as well as specific fixture types and terms. Take your choice of Tag paths to follow from the list shown at the end of each Post.

ACCESS TAG DIRECTLY FROM THE TAG CLOUD MENU: You may also access Tags from the Tag Cloud Menu in the Right-Hand Rail of all Post Pages (NOTE: There is no Tag Cloud Menu on the FixturesCloseUp Home Page). The size of the Tag in the Tag Cloud is a rough visual indication of the number of Posts assigned that Tag … the bigger the Tag the greater the number of Post associated with that Topic.
