I know this Campbell’s Auto Feed Design by Andy Warhol must be the ” cat’s meow” in point-of-purchase and shelf management system circles, But I have never been a big fan. Maybe I have spent too many years staring at upright Campbell’s soup cans and I am too old to re-train? Maybe its the difficulty of designing a round can label for horizontal presentation … or worse yet, a can standing vertical as well as can laying horizontal in different store situations.
What would make me like this? Reduce the cavernous, jumbled front entrance to a small opening that dispensed one can at a time only. That would clear up a great deal of visual clutter. And if I haven’t insulted such an icon of consumer products (think Andy Warhol’s “32 Campbell’s Soup Can” art) I even have a suggestion of how to better capitalize on your famous label design. But I guess I better not sit by the phone waiting for a call. Regardless, I do enjoy the soup. There is no other canned brand that will do.
COMPARE to “Guess the Slotting Fee” for a smaller opening interpretation of this system for spices. When I compare directly I gain a new appreciation of McCormick’s approach.
