With forklift work in-aisle a hazard, warehouse clubs have adopted the techniques of police in cordoning off the “crime scene” for materials movement and backstocking. Though not seen just a handful of years ago, the modem warehouse club now has self-retracting aisle tapes to speed closings and openings. Sometimes I see this moved from aisle to aisle, but increasingly see them permanently placed in every aisle for immediate “as needed” closures. Better safe than sorry. Besides warehouse clubs probably buy these tape units in bulk, don’t you think? Maybe something of this order would be useful at mainstream merchandisers for aisle cleanup or other work? One in every aisle not so necessary mainstream. But a tape along with spill flag at cleanup locations possibly a good idea.
