Some service retail actively discourage tips. Possibly leading to this Do-It-Yourself Team Tips Tearfully Accepted solution. Where service is a large part of the “purchase” as in restaurants, a reminder of gratuity for exceptional support is certainly appropriate. Here the “Tips Never Expected, Always Appreciated” seems to exhibit tearstained joy over customer rewards left. A nice, hand-done, do-it-yourself tip jar and reminder.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Though I love the tip jar and all my experiences at this chain, know that it was seen at a Panera Bread where waiting lines, food pickup, table bussing, and dish cleanup are the customer responsibility. The food and staff are always great, but my contributions are more motivated by income disparity and memories of bussing and dishwashing jobs than actual level of staff service. What do you think of Tipping in mainly self-service situations like Panera Bread?
