Its advantage is no-tools installation, and a way to insert a rod as a lever to tighten savagely. It would be most effective if the design included tangs on the top plate that fit into shelf edge perforations increasing stability and locking the bracket to the shelf. A possible disadvantage is the length of the eyebolt which takes up quite a bit of space.
