A pumpkin or two adds a tiny bit of seasonal theme. But if I were running out of good construction weather I would offer a bigger discount on in-stock, outdoor deck materials to clear out the inventory. My personal rule of thumb is not to get very excited at anything less than a 20% discount. Do you have a discount threshold? At what point does your “marginal propensity to consume” create the additional wealth that you are willing to spend on an extra 10% discounted item? Would a “We will store for you until Spring for cash now” be an added sales motivator?
