Michael Graves Tin Woodsman Takeoff indeed. This eyewear display reminds me of both the famous Michael Graves 1984 Tea Kettle design, and the even more famous Tin Woodsman from the 1939 production of “The Wizard of Oz.” I’m sure the intent was not to knock off either, or early television episodes of Tom Terrific. But as I’ve sometimes said, their are only 10 or 20 truly new ideas in the world, and we keep using, reusing and painting different them colors to seem fresh. CLICK through the gallery for different views. Michael Graves and Tin Woodsman aside, its a radical looking fixture and application and a nice contrast to the frames themselves.
