An I-beam has that shape to resist vertical loads when used as a horizontal beam. The depth resists downward thrust. These Flatstock Boxer Hooks are surprising in that they are oriented to resist side-thrust not downward weight. I love the look, but a few far back in the main photo can be seen to already sag even though lightly loaded with Belts. If you like this fixture, keep your frontier lengths short or use high-strength materials.
