A standard package size across the family of different size products saves on creating and inventorying many different packages. One must assume from this example that the savings outweight the extra cost of materials. The approach has the added benefit of improved branding at the shelf edge (in this case hook end). But I wonder if the retail bemoans the extra lost space?
