Mounts that mimic Grid Backplates force me to classify this Ladder System as a variant, albeit radical, of Grid. Its design is minimalist and modern. In a boutique environment I would not mount it over the wide-spaced slatwall background. The additional horizontals create visual clutter. But in this deep-discount store in a 100-retailer outlet mall this was acceptable. There the contemporary lines of the Ladder System helped elevate the feel of the store. Maybe we really were getting both designer fashion and outlandish discounts. Cheaper fixturing would have caused more doubt of the value of the clothing offered at such low prices. So as you see fixturing CAN speak for your store and merchandise in subconscious ways.
