ENGINEERING NOTE: Square holes concentrate stress at the right-angled corners and are more likely to tear through at that point. In this case, the square-cut keeps the Back Tag centered and level on the hook Backplate Lugs. Plus the inside edge is heat-sealed which would add reinforcing.
