This is either an attempt to please extremely finicky customers or portion control in the extreme. I prefer to think it represents a Bakery Department completely committed to customer satisfaction in all aspects. I know from experience they’ll custom bake a few loaves for Margarit on 20 minutes notice. Now that’s what you call having fresh bread for a meal. By the way, we slice our own so have never had an opportunity to test the accuracy and repeatability of this retailing bread slice gauge.
