Friday snow spread across the country from over 7 inches in Chicago and the Great Lakes to a dusting in the Pennsylvania Poconos. What did I find in retail? Bikini on widespread floorshow along the action aisle. But according to store associates, bikini sales can be brisk on a snowy January day. Bad weather seems to motivate the purchase of sun and swimwear … possibly to overcome the doldrums of overcast, grey Winter skies.
I am driven however to my oft-expressed-complaint about “sight leak” … the failure to “close” the view allowing the eye to pass right through the display without imaging the foreground elements. Sales might be more brisk if the view were “broken” and the eye focused on the cute swimwear. CLICK the thumbnail for a closeup as well as far view. Where does your eye focus?
