What a continental attitude in this era of 24-hour commerce. This in-store photo boutique was as relaxed as its “Out to Lunch” sign implied when my wife and family employed them for a group portrait. But the easy-going Pocono Mountains stance may be regional, for this same chain is faster-paced and wound much more tightly across the state line in New Jersey. CLICK the thumbnail for sign details.
This is the first single-purpose “Out to Lunch” sign I have seen in decades. Small shops may have a sign to post when they are forced to close for an errand or mail run, but none formally close for lunch. Is this a civility we are losing in our pursuit of the almighty dollar?
