Apparently Stickball has grown into a sport so professional that Sporting Goods Stores stock Stickball Bats Slatwire Racks, with fixture manufacturers offering support for merchandising it. I must surely be getting long-in-the-tooth, for in my day Stickball was an informal street game. I never knew anyone who “purchased” a “manufactured” Stickball Bat. And I am in awe of marketers who can sell broomsticks as upscale sports paraphernalia.
I could be mistaken about the outfitting as only Stickball Bats in Slatwire Racks in focus. The raised walls could be used to contain and merchandise other goods in bulk much like a Wire Basket. But for now assume single-purpose, for the rack was not seen anywhere else in the store but this Professional Stickball Department.
