I am a proponent of the use of color for branding, departmentalization, navigation, and store image. But this multi-hue Riot of Color Shelf Edge Labeling application, though festive, goes too far for my tastes. My eyes are drawn more to the colored strips than the million dollar package designs they front. How about common color label strip for all shelf levels, but change as product changes. The use of color as Category Definition would add an extra purpose, and aid browsing and navigation. Don’t dismiss shelf edge label strip color on the basis of this post alone. Just temper your enthusiasm.
