I thought this a fine application of Manual Feed. Shelf Management Systems can be good solutions in general for small packages that easily become disheveled and unruly. Add manual feed and the customer can easily access product at the back of the lane … while unknowingly automatically re-facing the shelf for you.
Now take the concept a step further. What if each facing lane was portable allowing you to re-set and re-planogram the shelf or add totally new lanes of new items in an instant? Something like this Adjustable Merchandising Tray. Cool, eh? (Sorry, that was a blatant plug, but so very on topic I could not resist)
On the whole, manual feed seems to be a philosophical extrapolation of the trend in modern life. I am already pumping my own gas, swiping my own credit card, and washing my own windshield at the gas station cum convenience store. Why not get me to face all the products in my drug and grocery store too? SELECT “Shelf Management” from the Categories Menu to browse the topic further without regard to manufacturer or location. ***
