Well-crafted, this translucent vertical display surface is slotted front and recessed rear – in theory to accommodate a powdercoated Flatback Slatwall Hook. A nice look and attention to detail, so far so good. But the recess is not specifically required to keep the hook in place, the slot alone does that. Plus the slight difference in thickness at the recess causes the hook frontwire to trend downhill. (Also seen in that the backplate is not fully vertical). So the extra manufacturing cost is not strictly necessary – UNLESS the manufacturer’s intent was to create an additional sale of a specialty hook that was tailored to the recess. Tricky people, those fixture manufacturers.
