An amazing sight and example of Anti-Amenity: Don’t Sit Here design from the southern reaches of Manhattan’s Upper East Side and Yorksville Districts, within a stones-throw in every direction of well-heeled shops and only a modest walk from Bloomingdales. Though quite designer-ish, it pointedly broadcast “Don’t rest your shopping-tired buttocks here.” A veritable caltrop for one’s can. It’s hard to imagine anyone in this neighborhood being so undesirable as not to be encouraged to linger. Sigh … apparently even Park Avenue people are not what they used to be.
