This shelf extender merchandises an item as prominently as an Olympic diver poised on a high dive platform. Its purpose was obviously to promote the retail house brand by positioning it forward, out into the aisle. In that regard it dominated the scene … a cantilevered platform for display and focusing attention.
The platform is mounted simply to the perforations along the shelf edge. What might it do to the shopping environment if used extensively up and down the aisle? I think it could work if the store was kept well-faced continuously. It would have the overall appeal of Flemish Bond or the poorly named Rat-Trap Bond brick pattern … a smooth wall of product interrupted by end-on units jutting forward just a bit.
